Accessibility Information
For visitors who use a wheelchair or scooter, there is a designated accessible parking spot close to the entrance. The gravel parking lot could pose an accessibility issue for some, but I found my scooter was able to negotiate the soft gravel without a worry. From there, the vineyard stretches out beyond two attractive buildings: the cellar tasting lounge and the vineyard terrace, both with level entrances and available for visiting year round. As mentioned, the parking lot was fine for my scooter to negotiate, but the washroom was not due to the loose gravel leading to it. It is located in its own small building, and is equipped with a universal height toilet, grab bars and a baby change table.
When we were there, an event was happening in the cellar tasting lounge, which has a tasting bar, high tables and barrels designed for standing around, so we made our way along the washed aggregate path to the terrace.
Located on the edge of the vineyard, the attractive glassed-in terrace is wheelchair accessible, with 360° views of the vineyard. The building is open to the gentle breezes during the summer months, and heated during the cooler ones. This was where we decided to enjoy our delicious wine flights. You can also buy tasty, locally-sourced snacks, and build-your-own picnic baskets to enjoy on the terrace or in the many grassy picnic areas around the vineyard. For folks wishing to bring their own picnics, that is welcomed as well.
In the vineyard, where all the grapes are handpicked, resident sheep, ducks and chickens take their jobs seriously - they’re in charge of all the mowing and pest control! Commitment to the health of the land is top priority at 40 Knots.
